Garima – A mother of child with autism – now runs a society for person with autism

Garima is mother of 17 year old Vatsal (He is non verbal Autistic teenaged child), recently shifted to block 41, flat 2161 in Rangoli Gardens.

Parents of children with autism formed a group Approach Autism Society.

Approach Autism Society is a non profit venture formed by parents of children with autism.

It has been registered under the name "Approach Autism Society" registration number "525 / Jaipur/2011-12" in the month of September 2011.

The society works towards establishing infrastructure for persons with autism and multiple disabilities which offers equitable, barrier free and dignified services and offers them opportunity for lively hood with support of resourceful, skilled members/ stakeholders of the community/ society.

Condition called autism is one of the fastest growing disorder. Latest study show 1 out of 88 newborn are with autism.


Garima Srivastava, Founder & Governing Body member of Approach Autism Society, Jaipur. She is Director (Tech & Training) of Approach Autism. She is also a mother of child with autism.  

Garima Srivastava has done Diploma in Special Education in Autism Spectrum Disorder from Action for Autism in 2008-09. Post completion of Diploma she had worked with the institute as volunteer. She is RCI (Rehabilitation Council of India) certified resource person.


During her stay in Ahmedabad (in 2010) she imparted lectures and training to teachers and trainee  at B P A (Blind People Association) Ahmedabad. She was appreciated by Mr. Bushan Punani (Ex Director of BPA and RCI Zonal Head for West) for her contribution to run successfully Mother and Child training programme.


She facilitated DISHA (A school for specially abled children at Nirman Nagar) since Feb 2011 and trained two batches of Mothers of children with Autism. She delivers training and guest lectures during conclave organised by special school during their RCI programmes.Ms Garima has imparted training to teachers of Nirmal Vivek (Special School).


Ms Garima is supporting pediatricians, special schools and government authorities with her training expertise.


In July 2013, she was involved in a project to facilitate RTE (Right To Education) organised by the Rajasthan Rajya Shaikshik Anusandhan evam Prashikshan Sansthan, at Udaipur to formulate a curriculum for mainstream schools to accommodate children with autism.


She, as resource person in Approach Autism, has been training to psychology students, parents and professionals on “UNDERSTANDIN OF AUTISM”, under TTT (Train The Trainer) project.


Apart from this she conducts mother & child training, one on one session with child and counselling of parents.
