WHO AM I?
I am Aarti Shankla, a pro- active learner.
WHAT DO I DO?
By profession I am a special educator with experience in working with children with Autism. I believe in exploring the potential people & myself. I am very passionate about learning and exploring. New places and challenges excite me.
WHAT ARE MY HOBBIES?
I love dancing, singing. I also incorporate these talents as techniques in my work with children. I really believe that education is fun and it should remain so.
HOW LONG HAVE I BEEN WORKING IN THIS FIELD?
I educate young lives and facilitate the overall development of the children. I have been working in this field for 5 years and in my journey I understood being a parent of a child with special needs is a big challenge, especially in India, the lack of awareness of leaves the parent feeling disempowered and directionless
WHAT INSPIRED ME TO DO THE WORK I DO?
I was really touched by the children in Vatsalya. Being with these children isn’t easy or difficult. It is like every day is a new day, bringing new challenges and new inspirations. The innocent bonds I established in Vatsalya coloured my goals in life. It’s my passion for these children which makes me come alive and do my work. I envision an empowered and independent life for all these children.
MY FUTURE PLANS ..
With the collaboration of special educators, counselors and parents, we have formed a community and created a project called “SPECIAL STARS”. The primary focus of this project is to make parents understand the conditions and needs of the children, and creating a world of possibilities rather than limitations!
I am planning to make a difference in the ENVIRONMENT these children with special needs are exposed to. I wish to provide a loving and happy environment to them, which is only feasible when the people see them as CHILDREN WITH ABILITIES and not with DISABILITIES.
To make this difference in the lives of the children, I wish to enroll more professionals from the target community and intend to deliver workshops/ training sessions / seminars in inclusive schools and special schools. These seminars will target empowering parents and providing them with accurate and scientific information about the needs of their children.
